I wanted to take a moment to talk about something that I see come up time and time again with my coaching clients and friends.
It’s something that can be hard to avoid, especially when you’re pouring your heart and soul into building your business.
What I’m talking about is over-identification with your business.
It’s easy to see your business success as your own success. And on the flip side, it’s easy to see your business failures as your own failures.
But here’s the thing:
Your business isn’t you.
It’s a machine that you’re creating to trade impact for money.
And you, my friend, are the person building that machine.
You get to determine what type of impact it will have.
Your business is simply a tool that you’re creating to generate the financial resources to live the life you want.
It’s a path that allows you to make the impact you want to have in the world.
But it doesn’t define you.
You define it.
So the next time you feel yourself getting too caught up in your business, remember that it’s just a tool.
A tool that you’re creating to help you live the life you want and make the impact you want to have.
You are so much more than your business.
And that’s a beautiful thing.
